On-Page SEO optimisation helps Google understand what you want to rank for
What Is On-Page SEO Optimisation?
There are millions of keywords that users search daily in Google. Every search on a particular keyword will display a page of 10 results. On-site optimisation is the process of helping Google identify what keywords to sort your website into. Of course, when Google sorts you into the different keyword searches, you may be ranked between Page 1 to Page 20. The process of going up the search engine from Page 20 to Page 1, is elaborated in Step 3.
On-page SEO optimisation is a series of steps that is done on the backend of a website, either by coding or by an SEO plugin (if available). When these steps are done correctly, Google will be able to detect what are the keywords to sort you into the search engine. When done correctly, you will be found somewhere on the search engine (not necessary top 3 pages).
How Do We Execute On-Page SEO Optimisation?
Google the particular term, and you will find tons of websites covering an infinite list of steps to be done on the backend of a website. Not all the steps are compulsory, and certain steps might not be possible to carry out due to design limitations or system limitations. Some of the most common steps which we carry out that you can do further research are:
- WordPress Yoast SEO Setup
A plugin that provides on-site SEO editing abilities to the backend without too much manual code intervention.
- Site Speed Audit
Page speed plays an important role in determining a site’s appearance on the Google search engine.
- On-site Content Optimisation
A header defines the nature of the paragraph, hence it is common for SEO experts to strategically place keywords into the header texts of a website.
- Keywords in Title Tags, Content Body and Meta-Data
These are areas where Google is “scouting” for your keywords
- Google Search Console Setup + Sitemap Submission
The Google Search Console governs the relationship between your website and the search engine. Generating and submitting a sitemap (contains all pages of your website) to the search console, helps Google understand what are all the pages you will like to be shown for on the search engine.
- Google Analytics Setup
Connecting Google Analytics provides better user behaviour data to Google, which is important in today’s SEO context – A good site by Google’s terms is a site that not only ranks well, but also engages its users.
- Google My Business Setup & Integration
Google My Business is Google’s business directory listing that appears in Google Maps.
Is It Compulsory To Perform All Steps?
There are a couple more steps towards on-page SEO optimisation. But ultimately, it is not necessary to perform all the steps. Not all steps are compulsory. And some steps can’t be perform due to design or technical limitations.
For instance, having the same URL as your keyword. The impact it has on SEO is negligible, whereby it works best to focus our time, effort and budget on more impactful SEO steps. Different vendors have differing opinions based on experience, on which steps they will want to carry out, and which steps they will skip.
In a nutshell, the purpose of on-site optimisation is to build relevance such that search engines can start picking up your site’s keywords and get you rank.
Does Writing Articles Rank My Website Up?
Yes it does, and that is why it is common to find Wikipedia and many blogs on the top of the search engine. Content is oxygen to the search engine. The search engine breathes on it. The only negative about article writing is the amount of time and effort needed to be put in. You probably need a few hundred articles of at least 500 words each, to push up a moderate to high difficulty niche. Hence vendors combine both techniques – article writing and link building, in conquering the top spot of Google
