Our Approach

Step 7: Content Marketing

Create Content Clusters To Build Topical Authority

Content clusters are the foundation of modern SEO. By grouping related keywords into clusters, creating dedicated pages for each, and producing supporting content, your site builds topical authority, boosting rankings and enhancing audience engagement.

What Is a Content Cluster?

A content cluster is a group of semantically similar keywords organised under one primary topic, with dedicated content created for each cluster.

Example: Facial Salon

Let’s say you are running a facial salon:

  • Cluster 1: Facial Singapore

    • Keywords: “Facial Salon in Singapore,” “Facial Singapore,” “Best Facial in Singapore.”
    • Intention: General searches for facial services.
  • Cluster 2: Acne Treatment

    • Keywords: “Acne Treatment,” “Acne Treatment in Singapore.”
    • Intention: Specific searches for acne-related facial services.

Each cluster represents a unique search intent. For instance, “Facial Singapore” targets general services, while “Acne Treatment” focuses on a specialised service.

How Clusters Work on Your Website

Every cluster must have its own dedicated landing or service page:

  • Cluster 1: Facial Singapore
    • Landing Page: The homepage.
  • Cluster 2: Acne Treatment
    • Landing Page: A dedicated service page for acne treatments.

In the past, websites lumped all services together on one page. Today, Google’s algorithms prioritise search intent, meaning every cluster needs its own page to stay relevant and fulfil user expectations.

Building Content Around Clusters

Once your clusters are defined, the next step is content marketing. This involves creating SEO-optimised articles to support each cluster and linking them back to the cluster’s main page (also called the pillar page).

How It Works

  • Write consistent, high-quality articles related to each cluster.
  • Internally link these articles to the pillar page to strengthen the cluster.
  • Over time, this structure grows into a well-organised site that looks like this: (Insert Example Diagram).

Why Are Content Clusters Important?

1. Create Topical Authority

Google loves content. By building content clusters, you demonstrate expertise in your niche, which leads to higher rankings.

2. Engage and Convert Visitors

From a customer perspective, a well-structured cluster positions your brand as an authority. Visitors see you as a guru, which helps improve enquiry and conversion rates.

3. Middle-Funnel Marketing

Clusters act as a soft-nurture strategy, guiding visitors through your site and keeping them engaged. This is essential for turning casual browsers into paying customers.
