On-Site SEO Basics (Part 1): How On-Site SEO Works
Posted by admin on 20/10/2017
What is On-Site SEO?
On-site (also known as on-page) Search Engine Optimization refers to maximizing the different aspects of your website that will affect how it ranks in search engine rankings for certain keywords. These are the areas of your website that you have direct and complete control over.
Why Do I Need On-Site SEO?
On-site SEO will convince search engine crawlers or bots that your website is relevant for certain keywords. Suppose you are a florist who have optimized your website for “florist”, “flower shop”, and “buy bouquet”. When prospective customers in your region enter those keywords in search engine, they will find your website somewhere on the list of search results. With a dedicated and experienced SEO team, you can even rank on the first page—or at least higher than your competitors!
What Do I Need for On-Site SEO?
To begin with, you need to know what are the keywords that people actually search for instead of plain guessing. A frequent, big mistake that a lot of clients make before we start working with them: they are optimizing their site or blog based on the keywords they think people are using, not the keywords people are actually searching. Suffice to say, it is a waste of effort and time!
How Do I Find Out What Keywords to Target?
You can find what keywords to optimize for using Google’s Keyword Planner. Basically, you will need to specify a country you want to target and enter a keyword or more that’s related to your business. Look for high volume keywords—the keywords that are frequently entered in search boxes. Those are the keywords you should include in your website and note down in a spreadsheet.
Once you have done the keyword research, you can move on to actually optimizing your site's content based on the keywords you found. If you need a helping hand, do not hesitate to consult with us.
